Equalizers

Equalization changes the relative level of frequency bands. A measured headphone profile can provide a useful starting point, but the target curve is not a verdict: fit, unit variation, hearing, listening level, and preference still matter.

A Maintainable Workflow

  1. Find the exact headphone model in AutoEq, or begin with a small manual correction when no trustworthy measurement exists.
  2. Export settings for an equalizer that supports the required filter type. AutoEq generates presets; it does not apply live audio processing itself.
  3. Apply negative preamp gain when boosts could cause clipping.
  4. Compare at matched loudness, then adjust gently for comfort and preference.
  5. Keep one named profile per device rather than repeatedly editing a global preset.
